With the participation of (50) experts and representatives of parties concerned with civil society work and members of the House of Representatives, the third round table was organized entitled: The role of civil society organizations in... Achieving the first goal of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which is concerned with “eradicating poverty”.
Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the General Union of NGOs, and international and local bodies, the third round table was organized on the first goal of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which is concerned with eliminating Poverty The meeting aimed to open the door to discussion and dialogue among the meeting participants on three axes:
- The first axis: The current status of the social protection policy system (achievements/challenges) in light of Egypt’s strategic vision for sustainable development 2030
The second axis: The reality of the current contribution of civil society organizations in strengthening safety nets for the groups most in need to achieve the first goal (reality and hope)
- The third axis: The future of the partnership between the private sector and both the government sector and the private sector to achieve the first goal of eradicating poverty
The meeting ended with agreement on a number of important recommendations regarding increasing the contributions of civil society organizations to achieving the first goal. It was also agreed that these recommendations would be formulated in a policy paper as soon as possible and presented to the community.
It is worth noting that this meeting comes within a series of meetings planned to be organized during the current year “round tables” with the aim of coming up with a proposed societal vision on ways to activate The role of civil society organizations in achieving the 2030 sustainable development goals in light of the Egyptian state’s declaration of 2022 as the Year of Civil Society.
